We had two lovely adoptions today, one of which has put a huge smile on many faces, most notably the dog’s!
First to leave was Jekyll, a young tricolour shepherd cross whom some would describe as non-descript and others would describe as stunning. He looks like many other dogs at the SPA and we worry about dogs like this just getting lost in the crowd. However being young and sociable, he was chosen relatively quickly, ten weeks or so after his arrival.
A dog who has waited far longer was Basile. He had been with us for over ten months before his adoption today. A favourite with many of the employees and volunteers, this boy is good with people and chickens (the people who found him kept him for a while, so we knew that for sure), as well as being house-trained and light as a feather on the lead. He wasn’t great with other dogs, however, otherwise I am sure he would have left us long ago. He is about to turn seven years old, so we are pleased that his day finally came. Off he went today, with a customary smile on his face.
Please don’t forget that tomorrow is the joint fundraising event in Caunes Minervois. The forecast is looking okay, although there could be a drop of rain or two. Nothing too serious we hope, and there will be places to shelter if required. The day is to support some of the smaller associations in the area, DRC and our donkey-loving hosts being two, but there is also a local cat association, and a couple of others, as well.
Please come along and say hello, have a bite to eat and a browse round the books, bric-a-brac and plants and watch some fabulous juggling!
