Well, the promised catch up brings good tidings! Today we had two adoptions and since our appeal for dog food, tins have been arriving petty much non-stop, which has been really heart-warming.
Today volunteers Karen and Moira delivered over 1000 blocks of dog meat (thanks to Penny) which we have stocked in a new freezer (thanks to Di). And lots more tinned food has arrived, both by post or in person. Plus we were sent some good quality wormers from Black Cat Kennels, so thanks very much to them. It is wonderful to see such an overwhelming response to our appeal.
Okay, now to the adoptions. First to leave was little Cairn terrier cross Bilbo. He was so named due to his resemblance to an Ewok, but as Zoe would agree, there can only be ONE Ewok. His new owners are going to think of a new name, as they do not want to be accused of being fans of Lord of the Rings!
The second dog is going to keep his name, which will delight his former owner. Cooky was adopted from us as a puppy, but a serious illness obliged his distraught owner to bring this boy back to the SPA. I wasn’t there that day, but it was heart-breaking, by all accounts. In any case, it only took 6 weeks for this 15 month old bearded collie cross to find a new home. His new mum and dad, sensitive to the feelings of his former owners, will send photos and news. In fact the first pictures have arrived already.
Plenty of volunteers were there to walk the dogs and everyone seemed to have a good time, which is what volunteering should be about.
