Oups | T652

Oups young male malinois crossMale, Young, Medium

Oups is a very chunky young lad. He was brought to the refuge by a woman who had been trying to do good, but as is so often the case, had become overwhelmed by the number of dogs she wanted to save, none of whom was adoptable due to the fact that they lived as a pack, with no walks or socialisation. Luckily Oups is young enough to have his life turned around, which is what the ScPA is now attempting to do. At present Oups pulls on the lead and we are not able to get him to share his kennel, but both of these are just a matter of time. And when you see how handsome Oups is, you realise why we are posting him! A boxer malinois cross, Oups is a stunning mix. He was born in July 2017 and is castrated, vaccinated and identified.

Tyron | T653

Tyron male shepherd crossMale, Young, Medium

Tyron was one of two dogs that were taken in by the ScPA when their owner realised that saving every animal in the world is not something that can be done alone. Well meaning though it may be, collecting dogs only to leave them to live as a pack, with no walks or education, does not make them homeable. Tyron, a pale crossbreed, is only now starting to learn what it is to be a good canine citizen.Initially very wary of other dogs (having been attacked a couple of times by the other dogs in the pack), he is now sharing his kennel, and is starting to get used to walking on the lead. Born in November 2017, Tyron is young enough to assimilate all his new knowledge, and will make a great companion, either as a single dog or as a second canine family member.

Bowling | T651

bowling young male shepherd crossMale, Young, Medium

Bowling is not much more than a puppy. He was born in May 2018 and arrived at the refuge as an unidentified stray in mid December. One has to wonder if his departure has made way for another, younger dog. He is a shepherd cross with fairly dark colouring and is bags of fun. Seven months is quite an awkward age for dogs who arrive at the refuge. They are no longer puppies but are not really adults yet. On the positive side, at least adopters have some idea of a dogs’s size when fully grown, which is not the case with the younger pups. Bowling still has a bit more filling out to do, and will be medium to large. He is very energetic and playful and ready to begin his new life.

Logan | T574

Logan male shepherd crossMale, Young, Medium

Logan arrived at the ScPA when he was an estimated eight months old, and it is clear that he has had no training whatsoever. This is the age when many of our dogs arrive. They are taken on as puppies (given away free, usually) and it is assumed that they will grow into perfect adults with no effort at all. When they reach about a year old they get either too big or too strong; all those niggles that require either dog training school or at least a bit of attention, and lo and behold they are dumped. A black shepherd cross with a white chest, Logan doesn’t look anything special, especially in a country when black male dogs are always at the bottom of the heap for adoptions, but he will be a great dog. He is fine with other dogs, and although he hasn’t been on the lead much he is getting better already. Dogs like Logan are one of the reasons the ScPA is there. We take in many dogs who have just outgrown their usefulness to the families they thought loved them. Let’s show Logan that the best is yet to come.

Moliere | T648

Male, Young, Medium

MoliereMoliere is yet another border collie who has arrived having been found in the same local village. We are almost sure that there is a backyard breeder in the area who either dumps unsold pups or homes them irresponsibly, meaning that many of them end up at the ScPA. Moliere is a classic looking border collie, quite tall, black and white and with the border’s usual intelligence and willingness to learn. As usual, we are looking for an active family for him, one who likes outdoor activity and walks, and maybe interested in joining dog-centred activities, such as agility training etc.

Dali | T641

daliMale, Young, Medium

We think Dali is what we refer to as a “hidden abandon”, by which we mean that he has been deliberately lost. He arrived identified and in good health and his registered address is in Carcassonne, but so far no sign of his owners. It is hard to know what to do in such cases, but after ten days the best thing from the dog’s perspective is that he finds a new home. Dali is of medium size and looks like many of our other dogs, so he will have to rely on his personality to get noticed. And luckily for him he is a great dog, friendly with others and with a nice calm feeling to him. Another of the ScPA’s hidden gems is waiting for you. Dali was born in May 2017.

Google | T638

GoogleMale, Young, Medium

How many people out there see pictures of beautiful Brunos de Jura, such as lovely Fynn and newly arrived Darco and think “Ah, if only I had the space for a big dog”. Well, finally we have the solution. Google looks almost exactly like a Bruno de Jura, except his ears are not quite as long and he weighs about 12kg, which is roughly a third of their weight! Perfect! What’s more Google is good with other dogs of both sexes, and he can live with cats (although apparently this is not always harmonious). He is good on the lead, clean in the house and just about perfect. He was born in February 2016 and is ready for his new home!

Darco | T626

Darco male Bruno de JuraMale, Young, Medium

Bruno de Jura Darco arrived at the refuge thanks to one of our supporters. Surprisingly perhaps he was identified but his owner does not appear to be looking for him. We are not too upset, as Darco was extremely thin when he arrived. REALLY thin. He is looking tons better now, though, and it is time he found his new home. For those of you who followed the tale of Fynn, Darco is the same breed. But apart from the usual habits of the scent hound, there the resemblence ends. Darco is not at all nervous or shy. He is a big handsome boy and he knows it! He is fine with other dogs, is surprisingly good on the lead (I thought I would be pulled over, but actually the lead was slack the entire time) and he is very cuddly. Darco was born in July 2008, so perhaps he has been abandoned because his hunting days are over. But so are his breeding days now. Hahaha!

Strike | T622

Strike male shepherd crossMale, Young, Large

Strike was adopted from us when he was a puppy and we have no idea why he is at the refuge again, as we cannot get in touch with his owners. And by the looks of things they are not looking for their dog either. Strike needs a new home. Were it not for the fact that he looks like many of the other ScPA dog (that shepherd mix that is so common)he would be adopted very quickly. Because Strike is an extremely well behaved dog. He sits quietly in his cage when a walk is on the cards, and he gets on perfectly with everyone he meets. Let’s hope he hasn’t got too long to wait for a new home. He has just turned 7, so if you are looking for a calmer, steady older dog, he could be your boy!

Captain | T617

CaptainMale, Young, Medium

Captain is one of my new favourite dogs. He is of medium size, and is a short haired tricoloured dog. The most noticeable thing about him is that one of his back legs has been broken and has healed itself slightly wonky. Sometime he forgets to use it, and although he can walk a long way he is not the quickest lad. He keeps up with a good walking pace, but will not be able to accompany you if you are a jogger. Captain does not pull on the lead. He is good with other dogs and seems fine with cats. And he is hugely affectionate and adorable. I hope his handicap does not put people off; Captain is a great lad who deserves a wonderful home.
