I remember when Marcus was adopted way back in 2011. He had already spent quite some time at the refuge and everyone was delighted when he left. His new family, a young couple, were thrilled to have their first dog, and I bumped into them several times at the vets, they clearly doted on their dog. Everything went wrong when they had a baby, however. Not all dogs accept new arrivals with the same joy as the parents, and Marcus was given away to somebody else. His details were not changed on the database, however, so when Marcus arrived at the refuge as a stray in mid January, his original adopter came to sign papers officially asking the ScPA to rehome the dog that was still officially his. Marcus is now 12 years old, and will be incredibly lucky to find another home. He is a beauceron cross who is fine with other dogs, but clearly his new home needs to be free of young children. Poor, poor Marcus. As a senior dog his adoption fee is just €80, but I doubt that will help him much.
