We had two adoptions today. The first of the labrador cross puppies, Agata, left for her new home, as did lovely Lord.
For Agata, this was the first possible date on which she could leave the refuge, as the pound delay had to be observed, even though everyone knew that the puppies had no owner, let alone one who was going to come and reclaim them. That would involve having to pay for the pups to be identified, and as they were not wanted in the first place, why spend money on them? As it is, Agata is going to a lovely new home and will be sterilised at the age of 6 months. Only in this was can this cycle of unwanted puppies leading to overpopulation be stopped.
Lord arrived at the SPA having been found straying in a nearby village some six weeks ago. He is a beautiful young lad and as you can see from the photo, he had his own special way of showing the world how much he wanted to get out of his kennel!
It was not all good news, however, as we had two new arrivals. Both of them are gorgeous girls and with any luck they will not have too long to wait for their new homes.
Meanwhile the SPA Christmas tree is well and truly up, and the underneath is starting to fill up with gifts for the dogs. You can pop in anytime you like to drop off a gift for your favourite dog or cat, you don’t have to wait for the weekend. We would like every single animal to have a present this year, even if what they would like most in the world is a family of their own.
Tonight that dream has come true for Agata and Lord. Thanks to their new families.
