Artos| PP563

Artos male Czech wolf dogMale, Large, Mature

It was only after the recent DRC photo shoot that I realised that Artos was not on our website, although he has been at the SPA since December last year! Taken in by the SPA by a rescuer who had bitten off more than he could chew, Artos is a czech wolfdog. If you don’t know this breed, it is worth doing some research, as they are quite particular! Artos is a big male, fabulous to look at and fabulous on the lead. He is good with some females, but does not like males, even of his own breed (yes, he is the Alpha dog). He is very affectionate with people, but we would not advise that he be homed with small children (although he can meet them on walks without any problems). Artos is magnificent and everyone feels a surge of pride whilst walking him. He as born in December 2010.

  • Sociable and friendly
  • Good with some female dogs
  • Magnificent looking dog

Max | R264

Max shepherd crossMale, Young, Medium

Max is yet another dog who was brought in having been neglected, and another dog who is happy to be at the SPA! Sadly for him, Max looks like many of the other dogs at the SPA, a kind of miscellaneous shepherd cross. However like all our dogs, Max has that certain something that marks him out, and we definitely have several people who love his looks! In fact one of them got as far as taking him home to test with their cats, and Max was absolutely fine with them. Max was born in August 2016 and is a lovely friendly lad.

Kipnak | R371

Kipnik mature husky crossMale, Mature, Medium

Regular readers will know this boy. Several years at the SPA ended with an adoption less than a year ago, but the dream is over. What appeared to be the perfect family turned out not to be such, and so at 13 years old, Kipnak is back. He pulls on the lead slightly more than in the past, but is still an easy dog to walk, he is not quite as good with other dogs as he was before, but we will work on that. What he still is is a lovely husky cross who was born in January 2004 and who never deserved to be at the SPA in the first place, let alone come back a second time. As a senior dog Kipnak’s adoption fee is just €80 or why not ask us about fostering?

Isidor|R227

isidor male young MalinoisMale, Young, Large

Isidor was abandoned by his owner who has changed jobs and no longer has time to devote to his dog. And Isidor is going to take quite a bit of time, to be honest. Not a dog for the faint hearted, Isidor pulls a lot on the lead and is a bundle of energy, as is often the case of the malinois breed. We are told that Isidor is fine with dogs and cats and children, but at the SPA he is alone for now, as he has just too much “bounce” for most of our dogs. Isidor was born in May2013 is looking for a home with experienced owners and an enclosed garden where this lad can get rid of some of his energy!

Look|R199

Look male german shepherd crossMale, Young, Large

Look is a lovely gentle german shepherd cross who was found at the SPA gates one morning. He was identified so we called his owner, who said that she no longer wanted him, and she subsequently came along to sign him over to us. Look has spent a lot of time tied up in a garden, so he has not seen much of the world. Despite this he is very affectionate, and is gradually getting to know other dogs. He settles down really well on walks and is very attentive to whomever is walking him. Look was born in April 2013.

Oscar|R167

Oscar male shepherd crossMale, Young, Large

Oscar’s owner was unable to manage this fairly large strong dog as well as her other animals, so Oscar is at the SPA looking for a new home. Oscar pulls quite hard on the lead, especially if he sees horses, which he will chase. He is a shepherd cross with a small griffon-like beard who was born in February 2016. Oscar is good with other dogs but has a tendency to be a bit dominant.

Tyson|R64

Tyson large white male shepherd crossMale, Young, Large

It is very sad to see Tyson back at the SPA. His adoptive family was just not right for him and took bad advice regarding his needs. What kind of behaviourist tells an owner that the dog is “insane” and will never be happy inside a house? In any case, Tyson deserves better, so we will do better at finding him the right home next time. He is a big white shepherd who was born in February 2012. He is fabulous on the lead and is a total pleasure to walk. Although he shares his kennel at the SPA he tends to be a bit more exclusive out of the SPA, so perhaps he would be happier as an only dog.

Flavien| PP451

Flavian beauceron bouvier bernois crossMale, Young, Large

Flavien is a wonderful dog who has been at the SPA since October 2016. This is a long time for a dog this handsome, but despite what his former owners told us, he has some difficulties when meeting other dgs (especially males) and does not like cats. However he is fine with female dogs and is fine with people of all ages. Flavian is a  beauceron crossed with a bouvier bernois, and was born in October 2011. He is strong on the lead, but this is dealt with easily thanks to a no-pull harness and once he settles down he is well behaved. His ideal home would have an enclosed garden and offer lots of outdoor activity and walks.

Nesquick| PP429

Nesquick french spaniel crossMale, Young, Medium

Nesquick is a French spaniel cross who was brought to the SPA in late September 2016 having been found in a local village having rocks thrown at him by a group of children. Unsurprisingly he is now vary wary of then, so we would recommend a home with older children only. Nesquick was born in September 2013, so is in the prime of life. And boy, does he know it! This lad is very strong on the lead and needs a strong owner, or (as we do at the SPA) a garden where he can run off some energy first. He is fine with other dogs and for people who like long walks and exercise, he will make a great dog.

Pato|P078

patoLarge, Mature, Male

Pato was adopted recently and brought back for no particular reason other than an apartment is not the right place for a dog of this size! Pato is a big dog, and despite his age (he was born in May 2004) he is very active. He is a fine looking boy, but he has a major problem. He HATES cars! My Bella will chase cars, but Pato will attack them, whether stationary or not. Not only that, he will bite through the tyres. Hmm. What sort of home would suit this dog? One with a garden in which no cars enter, for sure. And as for walking, it would have to be somewhere where no cars are likely to pass by, or he will lunge and probably take you with him. Not an easy dog to home! But he deserves his chance!
