Noisette | T501

Noisette female shepherd crossFemale, Young, Medium

Noisette was found at the refuge gates one morning with her puppy, Pirouette. Both dogs had mange and were put in isolation until this infection had been treated. Luckily they had each other, so it was not too bad an experience for them. Now, they are all well and ready for a new home. Noisette is a shepherd cross who seems to be a very calm girl. Recently she escaped from her kennel and her first instinct was to run to the nearest person, who just slipped a lead over her head and gave her a cuddle. Yes, you are right, probably a homeless person’s dog; sociable and well balanced. Her puppy-bearing days are over now, and although she is not quite five years old, Noisette would like a more stable lifestyle than she has had up to now!

Paco | T570

Paco male sharpie shepherd crossMale, Young, Medium

Paco arrived first at the ScPA when he was little more than a puppy. He was rehomed relatively soon, and we are very upset that now, five years later, he has been brought back as his owners are divorcing. Paco is now a much bigger dog, but still as bizarre looking. Imagine a sharpei with stumpy legs! Paco is fine with other dogs, and although he pulls a bit on the lead, I think it is just enthusiasm. I am not sure his former family took him out very much. Paco was born in April 2015.

Ilona | T529

Ilona bull dog crossFemale, Young, Medium

Ilona is a fabulous white coloured bull terrier who needs a new home fairly urgently. We do not know all the details, but we believe that she has been used for breeding. Coming to the ScPA is really a blessing for her, especially as her owners have made no attempt to find her. What she needs now is a new home. Ilona is wonderful with people, but is a bit reactive to dogs, and she hates cats. So a home as a single dog would be ideal for this lovely girl who was born in May 2013.

Edge | T554

Edge young male griffon crossMale, Young, Medium

What a stunning lad! Edge arrived as yet another non-identified stray in mid October, and almost immediately was sharing his box with a less confident dog. Edge was born in October 2017, so is a very young lad. He appears to be a griffon cross, but with his stunning colouring (just look at those eyes!), you could be forgiven for believing him to be at least part Australian shepherd. For his lucky owner, a DNA test will soon reveal all. Edge is a great all rounder and is waiting for you at the SPA Carcassonne.

Nuts | T542

Nuts female border shepherd crossFemale, Young, Medium

Nuts is a very lively and active young girl who is some kind of border collie / shepherd cross. She was brought in by her family who said they no longer had enough time to devote to their dog. Bearing in mind Nuts is only just over a year old, it seems obvious that this is yet another family who should not have got a dog in the first place. She is a lovely young girl, though, very sociable with both humans and dogs, and we are assured that she is great with children. She will be very easy to train, I am sure, and is looking for an active family who is willing to put in some effort to her education. With a relatively small amount of effort Nuts will be a great family dog.

Titou | T533

TitouMale, Young, Medium

Titou is a fabulous hunt type dog who has just arrived at the SCPA having been found straying in a nearby village. He is not identified, but unlike many of our hunt-type arrivals, he is neither thin, or in poor condition. Perhaps someone is looking for him, but just in case, we are showing him to you, just in case this is the dog of your dreams. Titou is some sort of beagle/ pointer cross, who is understandably a bit nervous at finding himself at the refuge, but is by no means terrified of people. He is a great looking lad according to the people who found him, he is fine with other dogs and even cats!

Merlin | T482

Merlin male shepherd crossMale, Young, Medium

Merlin was brought into the refuge by the police who said that he had been seen straying in a local village for several weeks. However he shows no signs of being thin or neglected, so perhaps he is one of many dogs who spends the days wandering while his owners are at work, only to go home in the evenings. The fact remains that no one has come to collect him, though, and (almost inevitably) he was not identified. Merlin is sharing his kennel with another dog and is settling well into refuge life. He is a husky cross who was born in September 2014 (according to the vet’s estimate) and is a lovely affectionate boy.

Louby | T518

Louby labrador griffon crossMale, Young, Medium

Louby is still a puppy, he was born in May 2018 and we have no idea why he is at the refuge. Except hold on…he has a very minor skin condition that has made one of his eyes weep. A couple of days of treatment and it is fine, but is that the reason he was dumped at the ScPA? Taking any animal is a responsibility; even if you get one free from the internet (grrr), he will still need vet treatment from time to time. Sigh. In any case, Louby deserves a better home than the one he had, and so we will find him one! He is probably a lab/griffon cross (lab shaped body, but a little moustache!) and will be a medium sized dog who is full of love!

Grace | T528

Female, Young, Medium

Grace female setter crossGrace is a beautiful harlequin setter who has just arrived. We are not sure of her history, but we suspect that she is going to have to have a leg amputated, and this is perhaps why she is at the ScPA. At present Grace has a “dead” paw, which just hangs limp and drags on the ground. The vet says she will be far happier with no leg at all, and as it is at the front, it should make very little difference to her mobility believe it or not. And looking at her happy, smiling face, we cannot believe that Grace will be anything other than a happy dog. She is very lively and affectionate and we are hopeful that her handicap will not affect her chances of being adopted.

Pebble | T448

Pebble female crossFemale, Young, Medium

I was not the only one to do a double take when this girl was brought to the ScPA. Apart from her age and the slight brindle pattern in her fur, this could be my dog Caillou’s younger sister. Hence the name Pebble, of course, even though very few of the French can say it! Caillou was quite spiky when he arrived at the refuge; he needed several months of work before he was ready for adoption, and only then it had to be with someone who knew him and loved him (haha, me!) This is not at all the case for Pebble. She is adorable; already calm and affectionate, and as soon as her pound time is over, she will be ready to leave. Don’t miss out if you like the look of this gorgeous girl.
