The refuge is a terrible place for dogs in the extreme heat of summer, and winter. That’s why we are delighted that this week we have 6 leavers!
This is great work considering that the refuge is closed for July to allow refurbishments to take place and adoptions are on a strict appointment only basis.
So lets see this weeks leavers,
For the dogs who have not been so lucky and must endure the heat of concrete kennels, we have misters, paddling pools and we spray down the kennels as often as we can. Its also very important to make sure their water doesn’t overheat and that they have shade to lie down in.
Volunteers are walking in the mornings, before the heat of the day which is sensible for both walkers and dogs. There is many a day I have gone home with a splitting headache, even when I drink lots of water. So if you are coming along to walk, please remember a hat, sunblock and water!
