Well, here’s something that doesn’t happen nearly often enough! A lovely man came to the refuge to look for a very particular dog. Kiko had been abandoned at the SPA three weeks ago by this gentleman’s neighbour (usual story, border collie, too active/intelligent for its owner). However Kiko had been a good pal to this man’t children, and when he found out that this beautiful dog had been dumped at the SPA, he came to adopt him. So his children have their playmate back, and Kiko has the home that he probably always wanted!
Another departure today was that of Bonn, who caught the eye of a family who were not put off by her long ears. In fact they, like our good friends at Animal Trust, are Belgian, so do not have the French anti-chasse dog prejudice and are more inclined to go on the character of the dog. And Bonn is a gem of a dog.
On the subject of long ears, my golden girl, Sveltesse has gone to a foster home that we hope will become permanent. And there is another reservation, but I will save news of that for another day! Don’t want too much good news all at once!
Kiko: back to the old neighbourhood with an owner who loves him!
Bonn “Who me? Long ears? Never!”
It is lovely to read these wonderful stories. Happy and long life to all of them.
I lost my beautiful Tupac yesterday . He had a stomach torsion and did not make it. A beautiful loving dog his departure has left a huge hole in our lives. We have been drowned in a sea of tears since yesterday. I know when the tears have dried, we will honour his memory by adopting another
Oh Nicki I am so so sorry! It’s devastating enough to lose a friend but to have him go unexpectedly like this ……. well I know there are no words that can ease the sorrow 🙁 I feel for you very much and send you lots of comforting hugs and thoughts.
Thank you Evelyne. There has been such an out pouring of kindness. Tupac deserved that – he was a very, very special boy. Full of love for everyone.
I know Nicki, I saw on Facebook and my condolences again. I can’t imagine what a shock it must have been; I have been following Tupac’s progress since he fell ill on Wednesday. I know how much you love(d) him and I know that your heart will never heal, but another dog would like to help you try and smile again, I am sure. When you are ready……
Thank you Rowan. It has been a very, very hard few days. We have had so many tears for him. He was a very special boy and very close to our hearts. I suppose because it came so suddenly it has been harder. He was so young and full of life and to see the vets fighting to save him ( I was there ) was so dreadful. I felt so helpless. Our lovely boy. But there will be room for another when we are ready. I know there is more love out there waiting. Tupac came to us by chance and it will happen again.
