Nice to wake up to good news for a change; usually I, like many volunteers (and employees) dread going on line, as usually the first thing we read are notices of new arrivals at the SPA, or worse, adoptions that are not working out.
This morning there were two emails in the DRC inbox; one concerning Ewok and one concerning Cassie (ex Carly). Both dogs have turned out to be real stars; both were clean all night and seem to be extremely well settled in their new homes already. Okay, it might be a honeymoon period and the families may encounter problems in the future, but from their delighted emails, it is clear that should problems arise, both families are willing to put in the effort required to solve them.
And there was something else underway, which will not make the SPA page, or be noted in the adoptions album or elsewhere. That is because it is not SPA business per se, but is animal lovers’ business. This morning two volunteers took a homeless dog to a new family in Toulouse. Many thanks to them for their time and to everyone who contributed towards the petrol and toll costs. Several people each paying €5 euros or so soon adds up, and it shows once again that together we are strong!
At the SPA there were two new arrivals. Again both females. It is really strange, as usually females are thin on the ground at the SPA, however most of the new arrivals have been girls. But spring is in the air, and a non-sterilised female will go a long way to find a mate. Of today’s arrivals one is a pretty shepherd cross (a female Kawa, for anyone who remembers him) and the other is a white shepherd. We will try to add photos tomorrow. One is identified but is unlikely to be reclaimed, and the other is not identified.
So we have one day left of what has been another pretty miserable week…..Let’s see what tomorrow brings!
But we have good news from the UK, where the second of our border collies, Cocktail, has been reserved. So I was nearly right with my guess!
Ewok – remember his Batman collar? SNAP!
Beautiful Cassie, enjoying a good sleep
And Cocktail – REHOMED thanks to Border Collie Trust GB
