Urgent Appeal: Roxy

Some of you may have read the joyous blog when we announced the adoption of Roxy after two years. He left with someone who had walked him at the SPA and spent a whole month planning to adopt him. Less than 24 hours later he contacted the SPA on Facebook to tell us that he could not keep Roxy in his apartment, which was just too small. Since the adoption took place the apartment had shrunk considerably (he told us it was much larger when he came to adopt), and also a live in partner had appeared as if by magic.

What a huge disappointment for us all, but mostly of course for Roxy. This dog (no dog) did not deserve to be treated in such a cavalier manner.

Usually a failed adoption teaches us a lot more about the dog. Not in this case; we learned a lot more about the owner, who of course is now blacklisted. So we will stick with our original description of Roxy.

A big black griffon cross with a brown moustache, Roxy was born in January 2013. He was given as a puppy to an elderly couple who were unable to look after him, and they brought him to the SPA in April 2016. Yes, Roxy has been with us for two years.

He pulls a bit on the lead, but that is easily sorted out with a no-pull harness, which he is very used to wearing. He is fine with other dogs although can be a bit reactive to other males he sees on walks. He is a real gentle giant. When he thought he had a new home he went round giving huge kisses to all the staff and volunteers. He never jumps up at people and is a mature, well mannered dog.

Roxy has spent long enough at the SPA now. Please help us find him a forever home.
