Urgent Appeal:Whisky

WhiskyWhiskey looks like a very small black labrador, he weighs about 17kg, about half of what a “real” labrador would weigh. He was adopted from the SPA when he was a puppy and brought back in mid April. The reason? His owners moved to a new house with no enclosed garden, and as they insisted on letting Whiskey “free range” all day, the new neighbours objected. And rather than make any effort to keep the dog safe, bringing him back to the SPA (in the boot of the car, by the way) was the chosen solution.

His owners assured us that Whisky is fine with other dogs. At the SPA this does not appear to be the case. By a strange coincidence, two relatively new SPA volunteers used to look after Whiskey while his owners were away. They, too, tell us that he lived with their dogs in total harmony, so his former owners were telling the truth.

I guess the answer is that Whisky is very stressed at the SPA, and this is why he is our urgent appeal.

Whisky was born in October 2010, so perhaps he has good reason to be stressed. Can you imagine living with a family for six and a half years and then being dumped in a cage?

Whisky is wonderful on the lead. He is a very affectionate dog who deserves a new home and we would love to help him on his way. He is vaccinated, castrated and identified and his adoption fee is €170.
